CHOCOLATE RAIN

Rhinoplush is the loftiest, most hearty fabric in the line. At its core, Rhinoplush is simply a knitted polyester Velvish bonded to a thick layer of poly-fiber padding. This bonding process creates a sort-of rhinoceros-skin wrinkle which shows through the Velvish. Because this fabric is, in essence, padded Velvish, it has all of the resilience of the impervious, washable, synthetic furniture staple, but with far more loft and resilience. Rhinoplush makes an excellent “family” fabric, as it is stain resistant, easily machine washable, thick, and padded. But the padding adds one more layer of defense for the furniture within: often the padding behind the velvish can act as an absorbent barrier that can protect the furniture beneath. The thickness of the fabric gives it body and loft, making pillows look fluffier, and cushions more crisp, but because it breathes so well, no comfort is sacrificed. Rhinoplush is, well….plush.

Vintage Comfort Meets Parisian Style

Over the Atlantic, Paris Fashion Week (for spring/summer 2011, as featured in Vogue Paris) was taking place, and my gut tells me that LoveSac paid attention. Our Spring Vintage-Inspired Line marries tweed, tufted throw pillows, and a color palette to boot.

In the same category as Alexander McQueen’s dark narratives and Nicolas Ghesquière’s (Balenciaga) plasticized textures,  Karl Lagerfeld took a different approach. In what seemed like an ode-of-sorts, a Spring 2011 RTW Collection had Last Year At Marienbad (1961)  nostalgia (and in a good way). Coco Chanel had designed Delphine Seyrig’s clothes for the film, and everything from tweed to pastels brought people in the front row back to L’année dernière à Marienbad.

Really though? How can you ignore the obvious inspiration?

The PillowSac Champagne Package from LoveSac embodies the same aspects that Lagerfeld used for part of the Chanel Spring 2011 Couture Line (minus the heavy liner). The question is. . . was Shawny D. thinking the same thing?

See the faux-forrest inspired wall hanging? This “salle de bains” by Delpha, a rendezvous spot for creators of fashion and decoration, and based in Paris.   It really doesn’t just stop there either. Though we’re always later to catch on in the USA, firms caught up just in time to make it work for them.

Delpha can inspire the masses (and with the budget required to make it happen, some celebs as well). In addition to this, nature is in, and people have caught on. The lamp and end table below showcase looks that prove the inspiration. Perch, a melding of antique, vintage and contemporary looks, proves that not only white is in. Based in New Orleans, Louisiana, they have caught the bird fever, with direct parallels in bright pink eclectics (below) and also with white accents that work anywhere.

Spot the paper maché bird below? So maybe hot pink isn’t for everyone, but I guarantee you that this look is adaptable.

Adaptable how? The set-up below features a forrest-inspired paper maché
lamp with a bird finial. It is the perfect addition to the 4b/5s tan hs set-up from LoveSac. That end table also seems to bare resemblance in genre to the one above from Perch.

How about this room featured on Decor Pad by Caldwell Flake? Based in Birmingham, Alabama, this interior design firm has this philosophy, “… to compose visual anecdotes that are all at once classic, curious and calming…”

Welcome to Saint Shawny’s Home for Lost & Lonely LoveSacs!

It’s a mostly unknown and often ignored fact of life that LoveSacs do not always find the homes that they need.  Some Sacs & Sactionals have spent time on our sales floor, introducing people from all walks of life to the LoveSac Life.  Some are taken home, removed from their comfy duffel shells to be covered in our machine washable covers, but then are simply returned!  Unconscionable!

Science is at a loss to explain how these Sacs fail to find a home, but we here at Saint Shawny’s Home for Lost & Lonely LoveSacs have taken it upon ourselves to promote awareness of these neglected Sacs of foam and their modular kin.  We will not stop until we have found a home for each and every one. 

Let’s meet some of the Lost & Lonely, starting with Fred the Base:

“Please help my friends and I find homes! My name is Fred and I am a base (part of a sactional). I have been staying with some of my friends in Christiana Mall for too long. I need a permanent home that is going to love me, “dress” me, change my style as often as you would like. My friends and I are going for a great deal this week and this week ONLY! My name is Scruffy, and I’m a CitySac covered in a classy, fluffy Brown Beaver Phur.  It’s not the sort of cover you’d expect to find on a bag chair, but it’s still machine washable and tough as can be! Unlike my buddy Midge, the folks who took me home were the right size…but they tried to sit on me together! I’m just not big enough for that, y’know? So I’ve been passing the time at King of Prussia Mall waiting for somebody to take me home.  I’m four feet wide, and perfect for any full-grown adult.  I’m usually about $430, but if you ask for Scruffy, I’ll only cost $325.”  

 “They call me Spot, ‘cause my Brown Manorsuede cover’s got all these microdots.  I think they used up all the cute names on my buddies.  I’m a SuperSac, so I’m six feet wide and ready for you and your best friend to sit down together.  No sob stories here!  The folks who took me home just didn’t like how I felt.  The nerve! I have all this love to give, and nobody will give me a chance because I’m not covered in “fluffy” fabrics.  Well, my cover’s cool to the touch, no matter the season, and it’s just as easily cleaned as any of the others. I’ve been part of a package deal for $500 until recently, but since I can’t find my pet sheep (I suspect Midge…) or other bits, you can ask for Spot and take me home for $400.  You’d better bring a truck or van for me, though.  I’m hefty!”
